Sesame Chicken Meatballs are a delightful and flavorful twist on traditional meatballs, combining the classic Asian-inspired flavors of sesame and soy sauce with tender ground chicken. These meatballs can be served as an appetizer, added to salads, or served with rice or noodles for a delicious meal. Here's a simple recipe to make Sesame Chicken Meatballs:

Ingredients:

For the Chicken Meatballs:

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (or panko)
  • 2 green onions (scallions), finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for some heat)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Sliced green onions (scallions) for garnish

Instructions:

For the Chicken Meatballs:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, breadcrumbs, finely chopped green onions, minced garlic, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, beaten egg, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together until well combined.

  2. Using your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs of your desired size. A typical size is about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter.

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat.

  2. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the chicken meatballs to the skillet, making sure not to overcrowd them. You may need to cook them in batches.

  3. Cook the meatballs for about 5-7 minutes, turning them occasionally, until they are golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).

  4. Remove the cooked meatballs from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.

For the Sauce:

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the soy sauce, honey (or brown sugar), rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes (if using). Heat the mixture over medium heat until it starts to simmer.

  2. Let the sauce cook for a few minutes until it thickens slightly.

To Serve:

  1. Place the cooked Sesame Chicken Meatballs in a serving dish.

  2. Pour the sauce over the meatballs, making sure they are coated evenly.

  3. Sprinkle sesame seeds and sliced green onions over the meatballs for garnish.

Enjoy your delicious and flavorful Sesame Chicken Meatballs! They make a fantastic appetizer or a main dish, and the sesame and soy flavors add a wonderful depth to the dish. Serve them at your next gathering or family dinner for a delightful and satisfying meal.
