Chicken Kiev Meatballs are a delicious and flavorful variation of traditional Chicken Kiev. These meatballs are made with seasoned ground chicken, a savory garlic butter filling, and a crispy breadcrumb coating. They are a delightful dish that's perfect as an appetizer or served with a side dish for a complete meal. Here's how to make Chicken Kiev Meatballs:
Ingredients:
For the Garlic Butter Filling:
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Chicken Meatballs:
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (or panko)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Breadcrumb Coating:
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (or panko)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions:
For the Garlic Butter Filling:
In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together until well combined.
Form the garlic butter mixture into small balls or rolls, about 1 teaspoon each. Place them on a plate or a tray lined with parchment paper. Freeze the garlic butter balls for about 15-20 minutes or until they are firm.
For the Chicken Meatballs:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, lightly beaten egg, chopped parsley, dried oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together until well combined.
Take about 1 tablespoon of the chicken mixture and flatten it into a small disc in the palm of your hand.
Place one frozen garlic butter ball in the center of the chicken disc.
Carefully shape the chicken mixture around the garlic butter ball, forming it into a meatball. Make sure the garlic butter is completely enclosed by the chicken mixture to prevent it from leaking out during frying.
For the Breadcrumb Coating:
In a shallow dish, combine the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Place the all-purpose flour in another shallow dish and the lightly beaten eggs in a third shallow dish.
Assembly:
Roll each chicken meatball in the all-purpose flour, shaking off any excess.
Dip the flour-coated meatball into the beaten eggs, making sure it is fully coated.
Roll the meatball in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere the breadcrumbs.
Place the coated meatballs on a plate or a tray lined with parchment paper.
Cooking:
In a large skillet or frying pan, heat enough vegetable oil over medium heat to cover the bottom of the pan.
Carefully add the breaded meatballs to the hot oil, working in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding the pan.
Fry the meatballs for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
Transfer the cooked Chicken Kiev Meatballs to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
Serve your delicious and flavorful Chicken Kiev Meatballs hot as an appetizer or with your favorite side dishes for a satisfying meal. Enjoy the delightful combination of seasoned ground chicken and the gooey garlic butter center, all coated with crispy breadcrumbs! These meatballs are sure to be a hit with your family and friends
