Beef and broccoli stir-fry is a classic Chinese-American dish that features tender strips of beef and crisp broccoli florets tossed in a savory and flavorful sauce. It's a quick and easy meal to prepare, making it perfect for busy weeknights. Here's a simple recipe to make this delicious stir-fry at home:

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Cooked white rice, for serving

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, and beef broth (or water) to make the stir-fry sauce. Set it aside.


  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat.


  3. Add the sliced beef to the wok and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the beef is browned and cooked to your desired level of doneness. Remove the beef from the wok and set it aside.


  4. In the same wok, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil if needed. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, and stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.


  5. Add the broccoli florets to the wok and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until they are tender-crisp.

  6. Return the cooked beef to the wok with the broccoli.


  7. Pour the prepared stir-fry sauce over the beef and broccoli mixture, stirring continuously to coat everything evenly.


  8. Let the sauce simmer for a minute or two until it thickens and coats the beef and broccoli.

  9. Drizzle sesame oil over the stir-fry and give it a final toss.


  10. Remove the wok from heat, and your beef and broccoli stir-fry is ready to serve.

  11. Serve the stir-fry over cooked white rice, and enjoy your delicious and flavorful beef and broccoli stir-fry!

You can also customize this recipe by adding sliced onions, bell peppers, or other vegetables to the stir-fry. It's a versatile dish that can be adapted to your taste preferences.
