Lemon Chicken

Lemon chicken is a classic and refreshing dish that features tender chicken with a tangy and zesty lemon flavor. It's a popular recipe that's easy to make and perfect for any occasion. Here's a simple lemon chicken recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano (or 1 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken:

    • Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. This helps the flour adhere better to the chicken.
    • Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. Dredge the Chicken in Flour:

    • Place the all-purpose flour in a shallow dish or plate. Dredge each chicken breast in the flour, shaking off any excess.
  3. Cook the Chicken:

    • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
    • Add the floured chicken breasts to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through. The cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the chicken breasts. Make sure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  4. Make the Lemon Sauce:

    • Remove the cooked chicken from the skillet and set it aside on a plate.
    • In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
    • Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add Lemon Juice and Broth:

    • Pour in the chicken broth and lemon juice, stirring to deglaze the pan. Scrape any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet for added flavor.
    • Allow the sauce to simmer for 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.
  6. Finish the Dish:

    • Return the cooked chicken breasts to the skillet and coat them with the lemon sauce.
    • Sprinkle the lemon zest and dried oregano over the chicken.
    • Let the chicken simmer in the sauce for another 1-2 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  7. Serve:

    • Transfer the lemon chicken to a serving platter or individual plates.
    • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley for added freshness and color.

Lemon chicken pairs well with a variety of side dishes such as steamed vegetables, roasted potatoes, or a fresh green salad. It's a delightful and zesty dish that's sure to please your taste buds
