Churros with Chocolate Sauce

Churros with Chocolate Sauce is a classic and indulgent dessert that is sure to satisfy your sweet cravings. Below is a recipe for making delicious churros with a rich chocolate sauce:

Ingredients for Churros:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Ingredients for Chocolate Sauce:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan, combine water, butter, and salt. Bring it to a boil over medium heat.

  2. Remove the saucepan from heat and add the all-purpose flour. Stir quickly until the mixture forms a smooth dough.

  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, until the dough is smooth and glossy.

  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or skillet over medium-high heat. The oil should be about 2 inches deep.

  5. Spoon the churro dough into a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip.

  6. Carefully pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough into the hot oil. Use scissors or a knife to cut the dough from the pastry bag. Be cautious not to overcrowd the pot.

  7. Fry the churros until they turn golden brown and crispy, about 2-4 minutes per side. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

  8. In a shallow dish, mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Roll each churro in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until they are well coated.

Instructions for Chocolate Sauce:

  1. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it starts to simmer. Do not let it boil.

  2. Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the chopped semi-sweet chocolate. Let it sit for a minute or two to soften the chocolate.

  3. Stir the chocolate and cream together until it forms a smooth and glossy sauce. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.

Serving:

Serve the warm churros with the chocolate sauce on the side for dipping. Enjoy the delightful combination of crispy churros and rich, velvety chocolate sauce.

Note: Churros are best served immediately after frying for the crispiest texture. If you need to make them in advance, you can reheat them in the oven for a few minutes before serving. The chocolate sauce can also be reheated gently on the stovetop or in the microwave if it thickens upon cooling.
