Churros with Chocolate Sauce
Churros with Chocolate Sauce is a classic and indulgent dessert that is sure to satisfy your sweet cravings. Below is a recipe for making delicious churros with a rich chocolate sauce:
Ingredients for Churros:
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 large eggs
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Ingredients for Chocolate Sauce:
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
In a saucepan, combine water, butter, and salt. Bring it to a boil over medium heat.
Remove the saucepan from heat and add the all-purpose flour. Stir quickly until the mixture forms a smooth dough.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, until the dough is smooth and glossy.
Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or skillet over medium-high heat. The oil should be about 2 inches deep.
Spoon the churro dough into a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip.
Carefully pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough into the hot oil. Use scissors or a knife to cut the dough from the pastry bag. Be cautious not to overcrowd the pot.
Fry the churros until they turn golden brown and crispy, about 2-4 minutes per side. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
In a shallow dish, mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Roll each churro in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until they are well coated.
Instructions for Chocolate Sauce:
In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it starts to simmer. Do not let it boil.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the chopped semi-sweet chocolate. Let it sit for a minute or two to soften the chocolate.
Stir the chocolate and cream together until it forms a smooth and glossy sauce. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
Serving:
Serve the warm churros with the chocolate sauce on the side for dipping. Enjoy the delightful combination of crispy churros and rich, velvety chocolate sauce.
Note: Churros are best served immediately after frying for the crispiest texture. If you need to make them in advance, you can reheat them in the oven for a few minutes before serving. The chocolate sauce can also be reheated gently on the stovetop or in the microwave if it thickens upon cooling.
